Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi Completes 20 Years Of Public Service

On Thursday, 7th October 2021, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is now completing his second term as Prime Minister, celebrated two decades in public office.

PM Modi has risen from Gujarat’s Chief Minister to one of the world’s most popular leaders in the last two decades. He was sworn in as Gujarat’s chief minister for the first time on October 7, 2001, and served as the state’s chief minister from 2001 to 2014. He was Gujarat’s longest-serving Chief Minister.

In 2014, Modi was elected as India’s 14th Prime Minister, and in May 2019, he was sworn in for a second term. He is now in his third year as Prime Minister for the second time. In administration, the Prime Minister has stressed the slogan of ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas.’

PM Modi’s BJP-led administration has implemented several welfare projects. Ayushman Bharat is India’s largest healthcare program, covering over 50 million people. As part of the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana, which seeks to provide bank accounts to every Indian, nearly 35 crore Jan Dhan accounts have been established. Apart from providing insurance and pension coverage to the poorest members of society, the JAM trinity (Jan Dhan- Aadhaar- Mobile) has increased transparency and speed while reducing delays and corruption. The Modi administration has implemented different pension plans for distinct groups.

Over 7 crore people have benefited from the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana, the majority of them being women. After 70 years of independence, over 18,000 villages that were without power received electricity.

The government aims to achieve ‘Housing for All’ by 2022 and has emphasized agriculture with programs such as PM Kisan Samman Nidhi, Soil Health Cards, and E-NAM. PM Modi started the ‘Swachh Bharat Mission’ in 2014, and sanitation coverage has increased from 38% to 98% since then.

More roads, trains, i-ways, and canals are part of the Modi government’s plan to build next-generation infrastructure. The UDAN (Ude Desh Ka Aam Nagrik) scheme aimed to improve connectivity across the country. The Prime Minister’s ‘Make in India‘ strategy aims to increase manufacturing in India quickly. He also launched a slew of additional initiatives aimed at improving the lives of Indians and the country as a whole.

The United Nations ‘Champions of the Earth Award’ has been given to Prime Minister Modi. PM Modi has received several awards, including the Sash of King Abdulaziz, Saudi Arabia’s highest civilian decoration.

He has also received the highest honors from Russia (the Order of the Holy Apostle Andrew the First), Palestine (the Grand Collar of the State of Palestine), Afghanistan (the Amir Amanullah Khan Award), the United Arab Emirates (the Zayed Medal), and the Maldives (the Zayed Medal) (Rule of Nishan Izzuddeen). For his contributions to peace and development, PM won the coveted Seoul Peace Prize in 2018.

At the United Nations, Prime Minister Modi’s demand for declaring a day as the “International Day of Yoga” drew a resounding reaction.

PM Modi was born in a tiny Gujarat village on September 17, 1950. He grew up in a poor household, and his early struggles in life appear to have instilled in him the importance of hard labor. He began his career with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh before joining politics and working for the Bharatiya Janata Party at both the national and state levels. Gujarat University awarded PM Modi his MA in political science. He has attempted to use technology to bring change to people’s lives and is known as one of the most technologically aware leaders. He’s written several works, including poetry. He starts his day by doing Yoga.

According to the news agency, the BJP is commemorating the Prime Minister’s 71st birthday by cleaning rivers, offering prayers at temples and gurudwaras, and raising awareness about the government’s welfare programs. 

Prime Minister Modi, according to a BJP leader, has “put India at the center of the world stage” by guaranteeing decisiveness in the fight against terrorism and handling foreign diplomacy.

Home Minister Amit Shah was among those who wished PM Modi well, crediting him with kicking off the country’s “path of good governance and prosperity.”
