The year 2020-21 has proved to be quite a rough year for Bollywood – from losing iconic actors to getting summoned by Narcotics Control Bureau, it witnessed all.
Names like Deepika Padukone, Shraddha Kapoor, Bharti Singh, and many more came out and they were questioned by NCB. All the trials started taking place after the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput, and Mumbai Police found the connection leading to the drugs.
The actor was found dead in his apartment in Mumbai and there begins the journey of questions from the Narcotics Control Bureau. Actor Rhea Chakraborty and her brother Showik Chakraborty were questioned by the NCB, and later they were arrested in connection with the death of Sushant Singh Rajput. NCB claimed that Rhea and Showik used to deliver drugs and used actor Sushant Singh Rajput for the payments through credit cards and other options. Showik Chakraborty was behind the bars for three months and Rhea was arrested later, but the Bombay High Court granted her bail on October 7, 2020.
After questioning Rhea and Showik, NCB went to the next level and started questioning others whose names were found linked with the drug case. In this case, many famous names came up like a shock for the audience. NCB summoned Deepika Padukone based on the FIR filed by the NCB. NCB probed her WhatsApp messages with her manager on the topic of drugs. The actor and her manager Karishma Prakash, both were asked to appear before the NCB.
Meanwhile, while questioning the drug peddlers in custody, they revealed that actor Shraddha Kapoor and Sara Ali Khan were in contact with them and also claimed that he has supplied weed to both the actors; along with the peddler, Rhea Chakraborty also took the name of the actors while being questioned. Sara Ali Khan was questioned for 5 hours by the Narcotics Control Bureau.
Apart from these three actors, Rhea Chakraborty revealed the name of actor Rakul Preet Singh. The list does not end here, NCB raided Bharati Singh’s house and questioned the comedian and her husband Harsh Limbachiyaa after drugs were found at their place. Further NCB searched their office and house and seized 86.5 grams of Cannabis from there. This search was a part of the probe into the use of drugs in the Indian Entertainment Industry.
Actor Arjun Rampal and his partner Gabriella Demetriades were also questioned by Narcotics Control Bureau as NCB searched their residence in Bandra. Agisilaos, Gabriella’s brother was arrested by the agency after he was found involved in the possession of drugs that are banned.
NCB also arrested Shabana Saeed, wife of Bollywood producer Firoz Nadiadwala, after weed was found at their residence in Juhu, but later, city court granted her bail.
Famous filmmaker Karan Johar was sent a notice by the agency when a video of the party came out and NCB asked for justification from him. NCB sent the notice on the complaint of an organization.
The drug channel is never-ending but now Aryan Khan, son of Shah Rukh Khan has been arrested by NCB, after the raid at the cruise party on Saturday; along with Aryan Khan, three others have also been arrested. In the raid, NCB found 21 grams of Charas, 5 grams of MD, 22 pills of MDMA, and 13 grams of cocaine in total. Aryan Khan has been charged under the purchase and use of the banned drugs. Aryan’s arrested was made based on his WhatsApp chats as he did not have any ticket or boarding pass for the cruise. Multiple people are also detained in the case and the investigation is still in process.
