Is the 4th Covid Wave Back In Delhi?

School officials have been ordered to close Delhi Schools even if a single student tests positive. The number of cases reported in Delhi showed a slight upswing on Thursday, with cases reported from the recently opened schools as well. A total of 325 fresh Covid cases were reported in Delhi yesterday, with a positivity rate of 2.39%. A new advisory has been issued by the Delhi Government to schools in the capital as a result of this.

The Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi, Manish Sisodia, assured the closest monitoring of the situation after an incident of Covid was reported in Delhi schools. During his remarks, he announced that new guidelines will be released for schools in the capital on April 15. This aligns with that which the Department of Education has just released.

Following the new guidelines, a school in the capital is required to close the wing or the entire school if a student, teacher or staff member is found positive for a prohibited substance. In this part of the process, the school would follow COVID’s guidelines and protocols, as well as inform DOE. A mask-wearing policy has been implemented at the school.

It goes on to inform that “if any Covid case is experienced by the school authority, it should be immediately reported to the directorate of education and the concerned wing of the school, or the whole school in the event of a whole school closure, must be closed for the time being.”

As well, the advisory has requested that masks be provided to students, teachers, and staff members. In addition, the Board recommended continuing social distancing measures and regular hand washing.

In the NCR region-especially in schools-the, new guidelines have been issued in response to an increase in the number of cases in Delhi and other locations. It was discovered on Thursday that a student and a teacher had tested positive for the virus at Delhi School. Cases have been reported from Ghaziabad and Noida schools, prompting the schools to shut down for a few days and switch to online classes until the situation is under control.
