Rajasthan cabinet change explained – what it implies for Congress’ turf battle in the state and Sachin Pilot’s involvement.

The cabinet has five pilot supporters, but it does not occupy an official position within the party or government. According to party insiders, he declined the post of AICC general secretary in charge of the state.

The remodeling of the Rajasthan state government took place on Sunday, more than 16 months after a public dispute between the state prime minister and the then deputy Sachin Pilot.

On November 21, a total of 15 new names were introduced into the Rajasthan Cabinet, five of whom were pilot supporters. However, it remains to be seen whether the crisis in the unification of the Rajasthan state government and the legislature will be resolved or exacerbated.

The pilot himself was clear about this. Parliament is amazed at why there is so much debate about the formation of factions. “I say. We are all on the same team.” Congress has only one side. He helped establish the government.

” When the pilot continued to say “inclusive,” he praised the fact that the new government consisted of four ministers from the Dalit minority group, three from the ST community, and three ministers. , The new cabinet is “Mark by Priyanka Gandhi”.

The five Pilot acolytes that serve in the cabinet

Five of the new cabinet members were members of a group of 18 loyalist MLAs who stood behind Sachin Pilot in July 2020, when the then deputy chief minister rebelled against Gehlot, putting the state into a month-long political crisis that lasted for months.

The squad includes Hemaram Choudhary, Vishvendra Singh, Ramesh Meena, Brijendra Singh Ola, and Murari Lal Meena. Murari Lal and Ola have been elevated to the position of ministers of state, while the other three have been appointed to cabinet positions.

Vishvendra Singh and Ramesh Meena served as ministers in the previous administration as well, but they were ousted from their positions along with Pilot as a result of the political upheaval.

At the same time, Hemaram Choudhary, who was also a cabinet member, offered his resignation from the Assembly, which was rejected.

The crisis of the previous year

In July 2020, Sachin Pilot, then Deputy Prime Minister of Rajasthan and Head of the Legislature, visited Hariyana with 18 other Parliamentary MLAs from Rajasthan. The pilot claimed the position of prime minister, denying him in the 2018 state elections and claiming the support of at least 30 members of the 200-strong house at the time. At that time, the parliament had a total of 108 seats.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Gerott appealed to party leaders Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi to investigate the matter but said the BJP was trying to destabilize his government.

In addition, there were rumors that the pilot and his MLA were now on the verge of asylum at the BJP. But even if the 19 MLAs (including pilots) in Congress change sides, the BJP, which had 71 MLAs in the congregation, would need additional votes in the plenary to form a government. A more nutritious debate about the possibility of the pilot’s withdrawal from the party was a similar topic in Madhya Pradesh. During this time, Cindia saw a pilot in her apartment in Delhi.

In contrast, the pilot categorically claimed that he was not involved in negotiations with the BJP on this issue. Similarly, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) was officially a few times away from the situation.

The pilot was removed from the seats of the House of Representatives and the Senate after several consultations between the national leaders of Parliament, Gerott, and the pilot. Govind Singh Dotasra, the state’s health minister at the time of the election, was elected president-elect of the Rajasthan parliament.

In the same year, the party expelled the leaders of the Rajasthan Youth Conference and the Rajasthan Conference Sevadal, who were loyal to the pilot, Vishvendrasin, Rameshmina, Mukeshbakar, and Rakesparik. Ramesh Mina and Vishvendra Singh were later resurrected.

Resolution for the time being

A temporary solution to the crisis was eventually found by the leadership of the Congress in August of that year, only a few days before the Assembly’s next session was scheduled to begin in September of that year. A public reunion between Gehlot and Pilot took place after the latter paid a visit to Rahul and Priyanka Gandhi in New Delhi. Within the party, however, there was still a lingering cold war, with Pilot being denied reinstatement to his previous roles in both the administration and the party.

Later, the Gehlot administration was rejected in a vote of no confidence at the following assembly session.

What is the future of Sachin Pilot?

Some of his allies have been nominated for cabinet posts, but Sachin pilots remain informally employed by either the party or the government. It is unlikely that the pilot will be re-elected as president because Mr. Dotasla, who was originally elected under the concept of “one person, one job,” was dismissed from the cabinet. The pilot tried to negotiate for the government’s six ministers, but internal party sources claimed he did not want to work with or under Gerott.

Party insiders have also confirmed that the pilot has been offered the position of Secretary of State for AICC, but he allegedly declined the opportunity.

Will the pilot seek to establish itself as a national representative of Congress while maintaining a share of Rajasthan’s cakes? Congress must resolve this unresolved issue before the 2023 state elections.
