Virat’s Virtual Press Conference: Statements About Stepping Down As T20 Captain

Former all format Indian cricket team captain and current Indian Test cricket team captain, Virat Kohli was recently removed from the ODI captaincy of the game without any notice.

The test cricket captain of the country recently came up with a virtual press conference causing store on the social media among the fans and all the supporters of the game no matter from which region or country of the world.

Without mincing any words Virat firmly and humbly made his statements and presented his point of view which was not put ahead by The Board of Control for Cricket in India, or popularly known as BCCI.


Recently, Virat Kohli announced on all social media platforms that he is stepping down as the India T20 captain of India after the T20 World Cup 2021 as the cricketer has been filled with a ton of professional and personal responsibilities, and is looking forward to some space for himself to prosper in life in both professional and personal front.

This decision took the cricketer’s ardent fans by a shock as they were looking forward to seeing the cricketer win more T20 international matches for the country and create and break more records as the India T20 captain which the former has done immensely.

Post this announcement and decision, a few days later, The King of cricket also decided to step down as the captain of the IPL franchise Royal Challengers Bangalore or RCB which resides deep in the heart of the cricketer as he is the only player in the tournament to play for a single franchise ever since the tournament commenced in the year 2008.

He was pretty clear at his stand that he is not willing to play for any other franchise in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

The wish of the cricketer was dearly catered to by the owners and key staff members of the franchise of Royal Challengers Bangalore as the player was retained for an opening amount of INR 12 crores even after a deduction of INR 5 crores as for years, he had been the most expensive player in the history of Indian premier league(IPL) to be awarded 17 crores.

After the announcement of stepping down as the T20 captain the President of The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the former cricketer and captain of the Indian cricket team, Sourav Ganguly released a statement that this decision of Virat Kohli came to the entire board as a surprise and I the cricketer was asked to reconsider his decision and not to quit as the India T20 captain.


In the recent press conference, the cricketer claimed with a firm yet humble reply that he was not asked to reconsider his decision even once and the board accepted his decision without any further conversations.


The cricketer went want to say in the virtual press conference that when he decided to leave India T20 captaincy and approached The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) regarding his decision he humbly put forward his point of view regarding the same In front of all the board members. He gave them valid reasons and that his decision was accepted by the authorities and office-bearers very nicely.

There was no conflict of interest or any offense made to his statements and not even once was the cricketing legend and asked to reconsider his decision of stepping down as the India T20 internationals captain.

The fans of the cricketer well supported their idol and slammed BCCI for their hypocrite and contradicting statements that were released by various board members. #ShameOnBCCI also trended for days on the social media networking application Twitter.


The statement came as a complete contradiction to what the President of The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the former captain of the Indian cricket team Sourav Ganguly had to say.

Concerning Ganguly’s statement about the matter, the cricketer hinted and went on to say that Whatever was said and spoken about the conversation with the board of members and the cricketer was not true and highly inaccurate as none of it took place.


The statement of the cricketer has created a stir among not just the fans of the popular cricketer but among the fans of the whole game of cricket as well as professionals due to the contradicting and clash of statements among the King of cricket and the President

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) as the authorities continue to create troubles for the record-breaking run machine and one of the most successful Indian cricket captains, Virat Kohli but ripping him off the title of Indian ODI Captain despite his triumphant results and wins.
