Ola to start with Electric Vehicle by 2023

Located in the town of Pochampalli in the Krishnagiri district of Tamil Nadu, this newly built Ola Future Factory is surrounded by shoe factories, temples, bakeries, coconut trees and dusty streets. It takes more than 3 hours and more than 130km by car from Bangalore’s Technology Hub to reach the world’s largest women-only factory.

In addition, it will expand to the world’s largest motorcycle factory, with an annual production capacity of 10 million units, contributing to one-seventh of the motorcycles sold in the world.  Inside, a hangar-like building makes a metallic sound as robots work with humans and songs like The Weeknd’s Blinding Lights play in the background.

The Futurefactory, which spans  500 acres, or about 378 football fields, is a fully automated facility. Based on the principles of Industry 4.0, the facility has more than 3,000 robots. Ola, backed by SoftBank, said it uses its artificial intelligence for optimal performance. You can see many robots moving autonomously, transporting luggage from one location on the factory floor to another. Some robots operate on major assembly lines such as painting, welding,  battery and motor assembly.

“The factory was built in seven months during the Covid-19 pandemic,” said Bhavish Aggarwal, Ola’s founder and chief executive officer, in front of 3,000 customers visiting the factory. I will say. Electric scooters are currently being produced at the factory in the amount of 1,000 per day. The factory has more than 2,000 female workers. These women are trained and employed to manage the entire production cycle from battery to assembly. With full capacity, Futurefactory employs 10,000 women.

” A product called the Ola S1 Pro is currently on the market. We are working on several other prototypes, “he says.  Aggarwal has recently retired from its day-to-day operations to focus on technical features, team building and products, as well as focusing on long-term strategic projects such as motorcycles, automobiles, high-speed trade and innovation in international expansion.

Other strategic projects include Cell Research and Development (R & D), the construction of the Pune Technology Center, and the Futurefoundry UK. “We’ll see a lot of motorcycles rolling out over the next two years, and we’re also manufacturing (electric) cars,” says Aggarwal, who also previews the red electric cars.

It should be a big sedan, not a compact hatchback for use in the city centre. “We are also building the cells that are the core technology behind it. They are all made in India. I think India will stop selling petrol motorcycles by the end of 2025,” he said. say. Aggarwal says his mission is to help India stand on the global stage of the electrical revolution. Many top companies are innovating in this area, including Elon Musk’s Tesla and the many US and Chinese companies.

According to experts, most of these top companies, including Tesla and NIO Inc., focus on products in the premium and luxury markets. “The reason India is experiencing this wave of electric mobility is for consumers. They sincerely rejected petrol and chose the future of electricity,” says Aggarwal. ” Can you imagine yourself buying a gas scooter again? Number Our vision is to put India on the world’s electrification map,” he adds.

But Aggarwal shares these plans when the company is in the news for all the wrong reasons. Recently, safety concerns arose when Ola’s electric scooter ignited in Pune.

Many customers are dissatisfied with scooters and electric vehicle surveillance has been enhanced. Customers also report frustration related to delivery delays and some technical glitches.  The company announced that it will step up it is core R & D in advanced cell chemistry and manufacturing, as well as other battery technologies and new energy systems.

We are also working on battery cell quick charging technology and would like to bring it to market. We will set up a battery cell production facility with a capacity of up to 50GWh in India. In India, Ola is currently facing direct competition from electric motorcycle manufacturers such as Ather Energy, Hero Electric, Bajaj and TVS Motor Company.

According to Ola Electric, today’s roads have more than 50,000 scooters and customers travel 45 million kilometres (km).  At a customer event in Tamil Nadu, Ola presented the MoveOS 2 software update to all  Ola Futurefactory customers. This means that over 50,000 Ola S1 Pro customers nationwide will receive wireless updates.

According to the company, this will make the scooter a feature-rich country motorcycle. With software updates, Ola S1 Pro improves accessibility. According to the company, the MoveOS 2 update will also allow bug fixes that were previously thought to be isolated. B. Reduced range and battery drain.

The software update will allow riders to access the scooter remotely using the Ola Electric Companion application (app). Lock, unlock and open the scooter trunk with the push of a button. Customers have access to key real-time vehicle indicators such as charge status, range of different modes, mileage, and software version of the app.

There is a music playback feature that allows the rider to pair the mobile phone with the scooter via Bluetooth. With a cruising range of 165km on a single charge, the brand-new eco-mode counters cruising range anxiety. There’s a new cruise control feature-a feature found primarily in premium four-wheeled vehicles.

Drivers can now maintain constant speeds from 20 km / h to 80 km / h on uncongested routes. It also can enable turn-by-turn navigation assistance and live route maps to help drivers reach their destinations of choice quickly.

Ola recently announced its second product from production and is ready to enter the four-wheeled electric vehicle market. It has been known for some time, but until now no one knew when Ola would make its debut in the car market.

Ola unveiled three electric vehicles at an event at the Ola Future Factory. The teaser was intriguing enough to let people know what to expect from the design of a new four-wheeled electric vehicle. Like the two-wheeled family, the car is simple yet sophisticated in futuristic design.

The first car teased at the event features a sporty low-floor sedan with a modern coupe body. On the front of the EV is a great light setup that is well hidden in a wedge-shaped bumper. There are LED lights running the length of the bumper. A similar setup can be seen at the rear of the vehicle where the lights run across the width.  CEO Bhavish Aggarwal also shared a photo of the team in working mode and the results displayed on the screen. Although the design is carefully blurred. Sharing the image, Bhavish wrote in the caption, “Make some cars.”

Currently, there is no information on technical data for automobiles. The first layer of details will be published on this year’s Bhavish Independence Day. Many reports suggest that the three cars could represent any segment of the automotive industry (hatchbacks, sedans, SUVs).

If the report is believable, Ola’s electric vehicles can also be equipped with self-driving capabilities. This feature is still under development and will be developed with the global market in mind as well as India. The company plans to start manufacturing EV four-wheeled vehicles in the latter half of 2023.
