The United States distinguishes between India and China in Russia

Secretary of State S. Jaishankar, who was praised earlier this week for comments on Russia’s energy purchases in India, following a 2 + 2 dialogue between India and the United States in the debate over the Ukraine War, said on Wednesday that the United States “We are seeing the difference from India,” he said.

And China. “Acknowledge” each attitude towards the Kremlin. “You ask me, do  Americans distinguish between India and China in their respective attitudes towards Russia during the Ukrainian crisis? They do.” China and India refrained from voting against the Kremlin in the Ukrainian war at the United Nations.

However, India has repeatedly called for the end of violence in a war-torn country.  Prime Minister Narendra Modi also expressed concern about the conflict in a meeting with Russian Presidents Vladimir Putin and Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky after the start of the war on February 24. For India, the White House  said

New Delhi did not violate sanctions by buying oil from Russia, which accounts for “12 per cent of the country’s total imports.” Beijing was under pressure from the West last month to take disciplinary action against Moscow during the war.

When meeting with China’s Wang Yi last month, Jaishankar said the dispute between Moscow and Kieu was one of the topics of debate.

” When asked what to look for in Ukraine’s progress, last month I asked Chinese Minister Wang Yi to come to India. I shared each analysis. But we agree and still agree that stopping dialogue and hostilities is a necessary first step.

” Jaishankar was praised at a press conference earlier this week, and India said monthly energy purchases from Russia were less than that Europe would buy in the afternoon.

“All countries have their energy demands. “Must be met,” he told Will at the same time, India, which would not allow its relations with a third country to undermine the “core national interests” of the United States, Defense Secretary Rajnatsin said.

When asked about concerns about India’s position in the United States after the Ukraine crisis, Shin said in an interview with the Hindustan Times in Washington on Monday night, “Russia affects relations between India and the United States.

I don’t think it will give. The United States knows that India and Russia are natural allies and our relationship is very stable. India also has the core national interests of the United States in other countries in the world. We take great care not to be compromised by our relationship. “

Singh also talked about the Indo-Pacific, the impact of the Ukraine crisis on India’s national security, and the defence cooperation between India and the United States.

His comments were a long one at the ministerial level, participating in a bilateral call with his counterpart, Secretary of Defense Lloyd J. Austin, and a virtual call between President Joe Biden and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

I came to the end of the day. The 2 + 2 dialogue with Secretary of State Subra Maniyamkar was spoken at a press conference and then attended a supper hosted by Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken.

When there was speculation about whether Russia could meet India’s obligations on defence reserves and supplies, Singh denied the impact of the Ukrainian conflict on India’s national security readiness. “I do not agree that there is a problem with our national security. India is not a weak country.

India has the power to handle any problems that arise. But as far as Russia and Ukraine are concerned, we do want peace to be established.”

Responding to a question on whether India was considering diversifying its defence acquisitions further in the wake of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, Singh said, “Wait and watch.”

While Singh did not directly respond to Austin`s repeated references at the bilateral meeting, during the opening of the 2+2 dialogue and then at the press appearance to China`s aggression and attempts to refashion the region, the defence minister said that both India and the US share a common interest in free and open Indo-Pacific.

“There is no disagreement between the United States and India on this issue, and we will fully cooperate on this issue.”

During his meetings and public remarks, Singh strongly advocated defence co-manufacturing and coproduction and invited American companies and equipment manufacturers to “make in India, make for the world” as a part of India`s indigenisation push.

When asked about the issue of pricing of US weapon systems that have reportedly inhibited deeper India US defence ties, Singh said, “On pricing, they have spoken about affordable pricing. But that matters when you need to buy something.

It is true that when someone wants to buy something, you go and buy it where it is most cheaply available.”

On technology sharing, another issue that is understood to have limited the relationship from reaching its potential, Singh said that American companies should bring their technology and produce to India.

“In general, no one transfers technology quickly. If they don’t want to transfer technology, they

come to India, use their technology to produce items, and in India. You should manufacture them and export them to other parts of the world.

India will ship another $ 2 billion to Russia as the two countries build a payment system in local currency and continue bilateral trade as international sanctions on Russia over the invasion of Ukraine are wiped out. I plan to increase it. ..

To that end, Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government has been in talks with Moscow to liberalize market access to some Indian-made products, and people have talked and asked not to name them.

In fact, India is a net importer of Russian goods and the two governments are working on proposals to regulate trade between the rupee and the ruble and are looking for ways to balance the trade.

They said India wants to export products supplied by countries that have stopped supplying after the United States and its allies have imposed sanctions. This list includes pharmaceuticals, plastics, organic and inorganic chemicals, furniture, rice, beverages such as tea and coffee, dairy products and beef products.

India

India has been heavily criticized for stopping oil imports to take advantage of falling prices after Australia, the United States, Europe and Japan imposed economic sanctions on Russia in response to the war with Ukraine… President Joe Biden met with Modi on Monday, saying the United States is ready to help India diversify its energy imports.

A Commerce Department spokesman did not immediately respond to an email asking for comment. According to an analysis by the Ministry of Trade, India can easily increase exports to Russia with the top 20 items that need to be imported. Fisheries, textiles, clothing, shoes, machinery and electronics are some of the other items India wants to send to Russia.

Currently, India’s exports to Russia are only $ 3 billion, while shipments to the United States exceed $ 68 billion. Without high logistics costs, hygiene regulations, language barriers, and reduced government procurement allocations by Russian state-owned enterprises, it could be high.

Total bilateral trade between the two countries during the first 11 months from April 2021 was US $ 11.8 billion, up from the US $ 8.1 billion in the previous year. India has historically sought to remain neutral to tensions between the great powers but has joined groups such as the Quad Security Alliance with Australia, Japan and the United States.
