In the past few years, we have noticed that more and more famous personalities are proudly coming out and proudly supporting the rainbow flag as members of the LGBTQ+ community.

People of the LGBTQ+ community have existed since the beginning humanity itself. They have made records and valuable participation even in the front of civilizations that discriminate against them or pretend that they do not exist.

Yes, sexual preference of a person or gender individuality should be no longer leading news, but the influence of these stars explaining their experiences on such a public scale cannot be exaggerated for those who are fighting to admit their true selves.

Here, in celebration of these lives and achievements, we round up simply a few of the famous LGBT personalities throughout time who have proudly and publicly come out and inspired a whole new generation of queer youth in the process and have changed the world for the better.

1- Tim Cook:-

60 years old Tim Cook came out as gay on 30 October 2014. He became the first openly gay CEO of a leading company, Apple. Tim said he was surprised that he was the first openly homosexual CEO of a Fortune 500 company. His sexual orientation had been a topic of conjecture already. though he had not spoken of it publicly. 

The Apple CEO told in an exclusive interview for CNN International and PBS that, “I’m very proud of it, being gay is the greatest gift of God to me. I came out publicly because I have received emails from kids who read online that I was gay and requests in letters came from children who said they had been isolated, threatened, or violent because of their sexual identity, and I needed to do something for them. I wanted to demonstrate to gay kids that they can be done any big things in life while being gay.”

Tim said he is a private person but finally decided that he was being selfish by keeping silent about his sexual identity when he could help people by coming out. After the public acceptance of his sexual identity, he received much praise from everywhere for his bold decision and for taking steps to motivate the gay youth community.

2- Ellen DeGeneres:-


Ellen DeGeneres is known for her multi-talented, charming, and straightforward personality. Being an actor, producer, talk-show host, and comedian, she has various talents. She is brave as well as gentle and fully capable of defending and challenging for what she believes in.

On April 30, 1997, Ellen came out in a widely publicized episode of ABC sitcom’s ‘Ellen’.  Packed with clever humor including a gag, the widely viewed coming-out episode of Ellen made television history and helped majorly in the nation’s acceptance of gay people in general.

Ellen’s later success as a host and voice of Disney’s Dory would only made her more iconic.

Ricky Martin kept his public life separate from his private life till he wrote his autobiography 2011. The superstar remembers being on his Livin’ La Vida Loca tour in 1999 when he chose to take some time off. 

“My music was being listened to all over the world, despite the language, but I wasn’t experiencing to the whole. I was miserable. I was depressed. I would walk in the spotlight to perform because that was the only way I could balance my emotion is to snap out of this huge sadness that I was moving in.”, the singer wrote in his autoiography.

Further, he said he had reached a place where he was struggling with his sexual identity, “Am I gay? Am I bisexual? Am I gay? Am I bisexual?, And either is okay, just go with it and do not lie to yourself. And then I decided to convince myself that Rick, you are a very lucky homosexual man. You are gay. And I wrote it and sent it, after that, I cried a lot. And I’ve been very happy after that.”

The Grammy Awards winner also thought in on the joining of the LGBTQ community and Black Lives Matter. “I think we have to join teams, at this time it’s all about welcoming. It’s about knowing, it’s about being respectful, and it’s about understanding that at this case it’s not about us. At this point it’s about providing the platform to those incredible opinions that has assisted us and has informed us about the prejudices that, in this situation the LGBTQ+ community goes through.”

In 2017, she stated that she is bisexual, saying, “You’re not confused if you’re bisexual. It’s not confusing at all. For me, it’s quite the opposite.” Definitely, that hasn’t held the fans from clamoring for reconciliation with Pattinson.

Romano joined Stanford in 1986 , and is also a member of the 500 Queer Scientists visibility campaign, which serves to assure the following STEM generation has LGBTQ+ role models, helps the modern generation understand they’re not isolated, and generates possibilities for community connections and more excellent clarity within STEM.

Romano is an advocate for all followers and a motivation to several LGBTQ+ students at Stanford. His proposal for the next generation of LGBTQ+ STEM professionals to enjoy the process, “life is learning, and you are always evolving. Be authentic, patient, and stay in the moment.”

Tom Daley said that he feels incredibly proud to say that he is a gay man and also an Olympic champion, to news cameras streaming around the world after securing the gold medal in the adjusting 10m platform beside his diving ally Matty Lee.

He further said that, “when I was younger I didn’t think I would ever accomplish anything because of who I was. To be an Olympic champion now just proves that anyone can do anything”. He added that being an openly gay athlete has never been easy but his victory proves anything is possible.
