“It’s never about from where we start, it is always about where we end,” and looking to this line, Kapil Sharma fits the best for this, a name who now has a different mark in every house. Who does not dream for stardom? Everyone does, but how many of us know about these comedians? Very few.
Kapil Sharma is person who did not leave anyone without a smile or laughter. He took comedy to a different level, all on his own and now who doesn’t know Kapil Sharma. He is a comedy sensation of India, with his own TV show The Kapil Sharma Show.
Kapil’s way to stardom
Kapil Sharma hails from a typical lower-middle-class family from Amritsar, Punjab, and was born on April 2, 1981. His life seemed stable and there was nothing much to worry about until 1997 when Kapil’s father was diagnosed with final-stage cancer. His father worked as a head police constable. That time shook their family of 5, they were devasted hearing this, but also Kapil decided not to bend down over these challenges and he will fight. As it is said if it’s dark you should hold the light.
Kapil Sharma at this point had completed his basic education and when he went to college, he started doing theatre, but he had to stop as he did not have the money to pay the fees. To support his father’s treatment, he worked at a cloth mill in the daytime and worked at Jagratas at night to earn his living.
While he was not able to pay the fees at college, his talent and hard work helped him as the teachers recognized him, and later that led to the place where teachers from several colleges wanted him as their representative in the youth festivals. At the same time, Kapil’s father’s condition worsened, forcing him to teach theatre in college to earn some money, but in 2004 his father passed away. The time when many will think that it is the stop was the start to Kapil’s journey and he started working towards his journey.
Swami Vivekanand said, “Take up one idea. Make that one idea your life, think of it, dream of it, live on that idea. Let the brain, muscles, nerves, every part of your body, be full of that idea, and just leave every other idea alone. This is the way to success.”
Kapil started his journey from the Laughter Challenge, where he got rejected in his first audition, but he went again and came up as a winner in 2007. At that time it was his sister’s engagement but they did not even have the money to buy the engagement rings; when Kapil won the Laughter Challenge, the first thing he did was he went backstage and called his sister and told now you can buy the engagement rings with the winning amount. It is always like when God gives you the problem, he will also show you the way out but you have to work for that and find the way.
Kapil’s saw that winning spark for the first time and decided not to stop here and started working more hard, later on, he participated in Comedy Circus where he won for six consecutive years, when you taste success for the first time you will want it more and that’s what motivated Kapil to keep going and keep working to become what he is today.
After winning the “Comedy Circus”, his journey to stardom has begun. He wanted to give it a big shot and started a production company ‘K9 Production’ of his own and also started with the journey of his blockbuster show The Kapil Sharma Show. This show was the way out of Kapil’s struggle. He started gaining popularity and continuing with the show. He became a synonym of comedy for many people and started creating his mark in the Indian Television Industry and the Bollywood Industry.
Kapil Sharma, who had been roaming on the Mumbai streets without any clue about what to do, was now a well-known name in the whole country. His show became so popular that even the megastars from the Indian Film Industry came to his show to promote their film. It is beyond the dream for a middle-class boy who once did not know what to do.
Once Kapil was asked what is his mantra to success he answered, “ You should be sincere in your work.” We can see when sincerity meets hard work what it looks like.
When it is said “Success needs to be handled with care”, it is meant; he stepped into Bollywood with his hit film Kis Kis Ko Pyaar Karoon, and it was also how he made his show The Kapil Sharma Show more strong. It was a time for Kapil to get some more life lessons; his show was shut down due to his behavioural issues and his health issues, but he realized his mistake and apologized to the concerned people.
But this was not it, Kapil went into depression, and for a time people believed that it was an end to his career and he will be lost in the darkness, but John Wooden said “Things work out best for those who make the best of how things work out”. Kapil worked it out and found his way out to his comeback and stronger.
Even people say India forgot smiling when Kapil Sharma left the show. When you work hard, you get paid for it; and here is the journey of a boy from a lower-middle-class family to one of the comedy sensations in India.
