SELENA GOMEZ: The Golden Voice – Her Journey Till Now
Selena Gomez, the name itself, makes us imagine her beauty and voice, a perfect blend that makes her a unique personality.
From watching her mother perform on the stage as a stage artist to becoming one of the best singers in the Hollywood industry, she stole billions of hearts with it. Selena is an American singer and actress. She was born on July 22, 1992, and both born and raised in Texas. She came into the limelight for her role in Wizards of Waverly Place as Alex Russo in 2007, but it was not her debut; she started her acting career with a children’s television series Barney & Friends in 2002.
Selena Gomez was born when her mother was sixteen and her family had faced financial troubles throughout Selena’s childhood. Even with all this chaos in her life, she found her way and gained her interest to build her career in entertainment as she always watched her mother doing stage shows and her preparations. She started with the auditions for various roles and finally grabbed a series in 2002 portraying the character Gianna.
She appeared in the series from 2002 to 2004 and later on the producers released her as she was “too old” for the series as it was a child series. In 2006, she appeared as a guest in the episode of the Disney Channel series The Suite Life of Zack & Cody. Selena once recalled her experience, that she was very shy and she also didn’t know what was right for the camera and she learned everything from Barney. She also had a cameo role in the film Spy Kids 3-D: Game Over in 2003 and also a few more.
In 2007, she was given a role in a very famous Disney series, Hannah Montana as a pop star Mikayla. Later when she was working for the series Wizards of Waverly Place, Selena was recognized and she received various awards and nominations. She also appeared in a music video for the “Jonas Brothers” in 2008. By this time, Selena had started getting her spot in the industry and has also started making a mark; it was a beginning of a superstar. Gomez formed her own production company in 2008. Gomez continued to enjoy success as she worked for it.
Her journey is not over here, now she started hoping to get into the music industry and thus formed a pop-rock band and named it Selena Gomez & the Scene through her record deal with Hollywood Records. Even after this Selena was not successful as a single lead yet.
Every success has a dark past and you need to deal with it and bounce back more powerful. It was going fine like she released her second studio album “Revival” on October 9, 2015, and the reviews were positive by the critics who praised the production and her lyrical content. That album made its debut on the Billboard 200 with the first week sales of 117,000 albums and it remains Gomez’s highest first-week sales to date. Selena embarked on her Revival Tour on May 6, 2016, and that was a worldwide tour, where Selena claimed that the tour will focus mainly on her as an artist and will feature less choreography and fewer effects than her previous tour.
After completing her North America, Asia, and Oceania tour, she called off the European and South America tour due to anxiety, panic attacks, and depression due to her lupus in August 2016. She opened about her anxiety, depression, and how therapy helped her. She also revealed that her priority is to focus on her well-being. She even revealed that she underwent a kidney transplant due to complications from the auto-immune disease lupus and the anxiety, depression she had was because of lupus.
She faced emotional difficulties related to the transplant and family issues. To overcome that, she started taking therapies, took medication sessions, consumed healthy meals. Following the cancelation of her tour, she went to rehab to focus on her mental health and was also not active on her social media. After all this she made her appearance in the 2016 American Music Awards, where she was nominated for favorite pop/ rock female artist and Artist of the Yea, it was the first she won.
This journey is still counting; after fighting with the anxiety and depression, she made her way to bounce back and did not let anyone come in between her success. She is the one who smiles for once and many skips their heartbeat. It is your well-being that should be your priority if you want success and a good life.
