Mamata Banerjee

BJP has risen in power in the northeastern states from the year 2018, the party possessed a serious threat to Mamata Banerjee’s position. As a result, the campaign gave over to violent consequences as seen in the early part of the year. This made the Supreme court intervene in the elections so that the people can cast vote and exercise their democratic rights without any constraints.

None of the opposition parties could sweep a single seat from the BJP Government in the 25-ward Dharmanagar Municipal Council. In response to the results of the civic elections, the chief minister of the state has responded that finally, the people have stood up against the communal violence caused by the Trinamool Party under the leadership of Mamata Banerjee. He further added saying this was the right answer as the BJP supporters celebrated their triumph over their sweet attained victory.

The current scenario of BJP winning the elections has threatened Mamata Banerjee as she leaves no stones unturned to protect her power as the chief minister of West Bengal.

Mamata Banerjee, to Form New Alliance to Defeat BJP?

On her recent visit to Mumbai, Mamata Banerjee has met with Sharad Pawar to talk about the formation of their opposition alliance. Moreover, she has also met the Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut and the chief minister of Maharashtra Uddhav Thackeray’s son Aditya Thackerey.

Mamata and Sharad Pawar spoke about the urgency for the formation of an alliance to show collective leadership at the national level. When asked about his meeting with the veteran leader of Trinamool; Congress, Sharad Pawar has replied to the media that they had a long conversation and shared their intent for the like-minded parties to come together at the national level to show a collective leadership.

To this statement, Mamata has replied that there is no United Progress alliance left anymore. However, The NCP Party’s Chief Sharad has said that they are willing to take the people together who want to be a part of it and are willing to work hard.

When the reporters have asked openly Sharad Pawar about his intent to form an alliance to defeat the BJP in the upcoming elections, his reply was unusual. He replied that any party that is against the Bharatiya Janata party can come and work together with them.

Pawar has also mentioned the necessity to form an alliance. This would provide the people with alternative leadership choices and will also affect the decision-making process in the near future. This was the motive behind Mamata Banerjee’s three days visit to Mumbai.

Her meeting with Thackerey and Pawar who are the significant members of the ruling Maha Vikas Aghadi will also help her during the formation of collective leadership with the National Congress Party. It is because of the fact that MVA is also a strong ally of the latter.

The Meeting is considered to be significant in the history of politics because, for the first time, it has been showcased publicly that Mamata Banerjee feels threatened by the increasing powers of the BJP Government.

As a result, Mamata has taken up the responsibility to prepare her party for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections that would be conducted in the year 2024. She is trying her best to unite all the opposition parties against the BJP Government.

In the early part of the previous month, several leaders joined the Trinamool Congress with the dissertation of 12 Congress MLAs from their previous position including the former chief minister Mukul Sangma of Meghalaya.

Final Verdict:

BJP has emerged as a dominant party within this decade in the field of politics. Despite the soaring fuel prices, high rates of covid and the farm laws that were passed in the previous years leading to mass protests, BJP still has many loyal supporters.

Moreover, BJP has always owned the upper hand because of its superior election campaign machinery. So, it would take a lot for the opposition party to bring BJP down in the Lok Sabha Elections that are to be conducted in the year 2024.
