Athirapally Waterfalls
Athirapally Fall is situated in the lap of nature at Thrissur in Kerala. The fall is on the Chalakudy river that originates from the Western Ghats from the entrance to the Sholayar ranges. Athirapally Waterfall is the largest waterfall in Kerala with a height of 80 feet.
The water becomes turbulent as it approaches Athirapally fall and remains the same till it reaches Kannamkuzhi. If you visit Athirapally waterfall, you can also plan to visit one more waterfall that Vazhachal falls, it is a short drive from the Athirapally Waterfalls, also it is close to the dense forest which is home to many of the endangered species and has a wide range of flora and fauna.
The best time to visit the Arthirapally is during the monsoons between June to September. Kochi International Airport is the nearest airport and is at a distance of 30 km, Chalakudi Railway Station is also situated.
Shivanasamudra Falls
The Shivanasamudra Falls is one of the best falls in India situated in Chamarajanagar of Karnataka. It is the location of one of the hydroelectric power stations in Asia which was set up in the year 1902. The fall has its birth on the Kaveri River and traces its path via the rocks of the Deccan Plateau to form the waterfall. The Sivanasamudra fall is divided into a twin waterfall after the division caused by the island town.
It has a couple of ancient temples situated on that island and is the fourth largest island in the course of the river. It is the second-largest waterfall in India. This is one of the must-visit places. If you have a photographer inside you, this is the perfect place to get the best photographs and create lifetime memories.
The best time to visit the Shivanasamudra fall is when the monsoon prevails like in between June to October. The nearest airport is the Banglore airport and Maddur railway station is the nearest one, you also have the facility of the bus from Mysore.
Bhagsu Waterfalls
The Bhagsu Waterfall is situated near the McLeod Ganj, Himachal Pradesh, and if you don’t visit the Bhagsu falls even after visiting McLeod Gang, you will regret this. It is one of the most beautiful waterfalls you will ever experience in India. During the monsoon, it turns into a cascade which is about 30 feet.

Elephant Falls
The Elephant Falls is situated at the place known as the “Scotland of India”, that is Shillong in Meghalaya. The original name of the Elephant Fall is “Ka Kshaid Lai Pateng Khohsiew” which means the three-step waterfall, but the name ‘Elephant Fall’ was given in the time of Britishers when a British discovered a rock which appeared similar to an elephant.
According to reports, that rock was destroyed due to an earthquake in the year 1897. The water flows in the three sections of the waterfall in a sequence. It is one of the most visited waterfalls in Shillong and is a mighty one.
The best time to visit the Elephant Waterfall is between November to February. It is at a short drive distance of about 12 km from Shillong and a few minutes drive from Shillong Peak.
Jog Falls
The Jog Falls is situated at Shimoga in Karnataka. It is the tallest untiered waterfall of India as it drops directly with streaming in between the rocks and also, the tallest fall in India. It is in between the laps of dense evergreen forest.
Jog Falls is also known as the “Gerusoppaa falls”. The fall is also associated with one of the hydroelectric power stations at the Linganmakki Dam, situated nearby. It is one of the largest hydroelectric power stations in India.

Chitrakote Falls
The Chitrakot Falls is situated at Bastar in Chhattisgarh. It is the waterfall situated on the Indravati River. The fall has a height of 95 feet and is the widest fall in India with a width of 980 feet. The fall has the shape of a horseshoe.
The Chitrakot Waterfall is also known as the “Niagara Falls of India”. You can take a close look by a boat, locals provide the boat facility, and you can enjoy the view and sprinkles of water.
The best time to visit the Chitrakot Falls is between July to March. To explore the waterfall you can avail the bus facility from Jagdalpur which is at a distance of 38 km or you can book any tourist vehicle.
Hogenakkal Waterfalls
The Hogenakkal Waterfalls is located in Tamil Nadu. It flows on the river Kaveri along with the border between Tamil Nadu and Karnataka. The view of the waterfall will leave you mesmerized in its beauty. The name of the fall “Hongenakkal” is kept with the meaning of smoking rocks.
It attracts a large number of tourists due to the view and tourists also hire boats so enjoy that fall. It is one of the most beautiful falls in India. Especially the pellicular formation of the fall attracts the most.
The best way to travel to the Hogenakkal Waterfalls is from October to March. Bangalore Airport is the nearest airport. To reach the waterfall, it is about 4 hours of drive, and then you can explore the falls.
Soochippara Falls
The Soochippara Falls is also known as the “Sentinel Rock Waterfalls”. The three-tiered waterfall is situated in Kerala. The fall is surrounded by montane, deciduous, and evergreen forest. The name Soochippara means, ‘Soochi’ means ‘needle’, and ‘Para’ means ‘rock’.
The waterfall area is maintained, and also you have to go through a security check so that you don’t carry any type of plastic with you to the fall. The Soochippara is a very famous picnic spot and also trekking.
The best time to visit the Hogenakkal Waterfalls is during the summers in between June to September. The nearest railway station is the Elevayal Railway Station, and the fall is at 2 km by road from the station.
