India crossed 1 lakh Covid cases in 24 hours

The number of new cases reported in the last 24 hours in India surpassed a lakh in the Covid – 19 daily tally on Friday. The latest data available from the Union of the Ministry of Health and Family Affairs indicates that there are currently 3,71,363 active cases in the country.

 The Indian Union of Health Ministry announced on Friday that India has seen the highest level of Covid – 19 cases with over 10,000 (1,17,100). It was on June 6, last year, that more than a thousand Covid cases were reported in India per day. One of the reasons for this exponential increase will be the development of the Omicron variant.

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), it has discovered 9.5 million new cases of Covid – 19 since last week. Although the number of deaths has declined, the number of cases continues to decline each week.

 When the second wave of the virus ravaged India in 2021, the country saw more than 1,000 cases a day for the last time.  The Ministry of Health said that more than 68  samples have been tested against the virus so far in the country.

The Health Ministry said at least 1,199 people have recovered. The state with the highest incidence is Maharashtra, with 876 cases. Delhi came in second with 465 cases, followed by Karnataka with 333, Rajasthan with 291, Kerala with 284, Gujarat with 204 and Tamil Nadu with 121. There were 23 states and territories combined.  

 Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Haryana, West Bengal, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Uttarakhand, Chandigarh, Jammu and Kashmir, Uttar Pradesh, Goa, Himachal Pradesh, Ladakh, Manipur, and Punjab are among the states where the union has reported new cases. As of June, active cases amounted to 1.05% of total infections, the ministry said, while the nationwide recovery rate from COVID – 19 was 97.57%.
