NAGALAND KILLINGS AND THEIR VARIOUS ASPECT

The killings of civilians have caused many different talks and conflicts and as of now, the peace talk is in the struggle between the National Socialist Council of Nagaland and the center.

After fourteen civilians were killed during the Indian Army operation in the case of mistaken identity in Nagaland on Saturday. Here are some of the different talks that are coming up with the concern for the Nagaland killing. 

Among the 14 killed civilians, it included one miner, and his father told that it is not about the money compensation but, it is about the responsibility to punish the responsible army officers. During the clash, a 38-year-old man named Hokup died, he has left his father, mother, wife, and two kids behind.

He used to work in a mine owned by a resident and was the main source of income for them, he used to work with six other friends of his and also used to travel with them.

He had been doing this work for the last three years and like any other day, they were traveling back to the home from their work but they never made it back to home, they were killed by the security forces and according to Hokup’s father, he has no idea what he will be doing but for now, he wants justice for his son and does not care about the money but requests to punish the responsible person.

After the ambush, in the clash between the security forces and the villagers, seven more villagers were reported dead. His family in the grief said that today he was buried in the same compound where he married.

On Monday, the bodies of the civilians who died were brought to the village, and they were laid to rest.

According to the villagers, they are not blaming the government or the entire Indian army but, they want the commander who is responsible for the incident to be identified and punished.

On Monday, gunshot noise was heard but that was about the traditional mark to pay respect by the villagers to the civilians who died.

Nawang, a local who was with the group near the coal mine in Tiru valley, was not a worker at the mine but used to work in a place nearby, he told that the other group who used to work in the mine left for their home in a pick-up truck and after some time they heard the gunshot and decide to check on the noise of firing and they took the longer route to home but when they reached their village they came to know that the miners have not made it back to home yet.

They got into the panic situation and left to search them and they discovered the pickup truck with the glasses shattered and all damaged and in another pickup truck, there were army people who said that the car only had the injured people and they are taking them to the hospital.

The locals did not believe them and put his hands on the back of the truck covered with trampoline, and he felt legs and hands, and he pulled out the cover and cried with the bodies are here. After that everything became chaotic but, we agree we got aggressive but the army killed our brothers who were innocent and were returning from work to their homes.

Meanwhile, on speaking about the incident, the Union Home Minister, Amit Shah spoke on Lok Sabha on Monday that it was a case of mistaken identity and the army has expressed regret over the mistake. He also told that this kind of incident will not be repeated in the future and the government regrets this incident and it was very unfortunate.

He also added that the army officers received some information about the movement of extremists in the village Oting, and based on that the army planned an ambush in the area, a vehicle reached there with the same kind of identification, and they were asked to stop by the security personal but, they tried to flee, and by suspicion of the extremists, the security forces fired on them.

The center has kept a close watch on the incident and has spoken to the Governor and Chief Minister of Nagaland. Several MPs in Nagaland demanded an independent inquiry, and after the protest by the locals, a complete shutdown has been imposed in the capital city Kohima.

Along with that, FIR has been registered against the 21 Para special force of the Indian Army by the Nagaland Police in connection with the operation and they also said that the army persons did not even inform the police about the operation neither they took any police guide.
