 It comes after Hafiz Saeed, Talha’s father and the leader of the banned Jamaat-ud-Dawa (JuD), was sentenced by a Pakistani court to 31 years in prison for assassinating a security official.

 He says Talha has been actively promoting jihad against India, Israel, the United States, the United Kingdom, and Indian interests throughout Pakistan and other western countries while preaching in various LeT centres.

 The notification stated that the federal government believes Hafiz Talha Saeed is involved in terrorism and that Hafiz Talha Saeed should be notified as a terrorist following this act.

 In the Mumbai terror attacks of November 26, 2008, 166 people were killed. It was Hafiz Saeed who masterminded the attacks.
