Emily in Paris: From an Outsider’s point of view:

Some people proclaim that “Emily in Paris” is the exaggerated version of “Sex and the City”. Even though it is an exaggeration, it has received the IMDb rating of 7 out of 10. But, the series has proven many of its audience wrongs.

When perceived from a real-life point of view, nobody will want to surround themselves with a character like Emily. She is dominant, Ms. Know it all, continuously refusing to accept the French culture and does everything to prove her point right, even though no matter whose feelings come in the way.

Moreover, she has betrayed one of the best characters who had always supported her by sleeping with her boyfriend. The director has made the protagonist too much insufferable and flawed. There is no room for the protagonist to learn and accept her own mistakes. She is a Lil too much.

The show Emily in paris has criticized the French or the European way to enjoy life. Most of the people in Paris are seen to enjoy their leisure time while they take a stroll around the park naturally. There was one scene in the series where Emily had to wait for the security as she reached her workplace early.

The show has romanticized the concept of overworking- how Americans spend most of their time working behind the screen and that is not completely okay. Moreover, her job is to pitch brands to work with their firm and for her, every getaway or any friendly meeting would mean a place to get her work done.

Moreover, the show glamorized the fact that you will have to sleep with your superiors to step up the ladders of success. Well, the phenomenon is common in most of the sectors but let’s not generalize. The scene may have angered many people hailing from that place.

The writer has put all his focus on Emily while neglecting the other characters. The plot could have turned out to be beautiful if the series showed the story from other people’s perspectives. The story has completed revolved around Emily and the characters have appeared in the series to help Emily.

This would have been completely fine if the plot was created into a movie, but the fact that has been directed into a series, the people expect more. At the end of the day, you can tolerate 1 and a half-hour of a movie dealing with the protagonist’s life but you can’t do the same in a series.

Final Verdict:

Emily Cooper

Emily in Paris is a light-hearted series that I can catch up on during the weekends. If I am in dire need of getting some fashion inspiration, I will rely on this movie. But, if I have something better to watch during that time, I will let the series stay on my watch list for quite some time.

Also, the fact that I have watched the series in five hours and still got a hinge of it shows that the series does not take much of your thinking and is a good show to put on your television while you are multitasking.

Do let us know what do you think about the series and what do you think about Emily Cooper.
