Web Series has become an essential part of life, and in these last two years, it has expanded a lot. There are many OTT platforms like Netflix, Amazon Prime, Disney+ Hotstar, Zee 5, and many more that provide many web series based on different stories. Still, they are very well appreciated by the audience.
There are many web series that were released and left a significant impact on the audience, so in the year 2022, they are waiting for the sequel of some series & some new series will show their magic on the platform.
So here are the most awaited web series for this year.
The Family Man
The Family Man is a spy thriller web series streamed on Amazon Prime. The series was created by Raj Nidimoru & Krishna D K starring Manoj Bajpayee, Samantha Ruth Prabhu.
Priyamani, Neeraj Madhav, Sharib Hashmi, Gul Panag, Kishore Kumar G., Sharad Kelkar, Pawan Chopra, Devdarshini, and Sundeep Kishan are seen in the supporting cast. The series has already come up with two seasons, but now it’s time for another season as the audience loved the concept of the web series & wanted another sequel.
The first season portrayed the story of Srikant Tiwari (role played by Manoj Bajpayee), who is a secret intelligence officer working for TASC (Threat Analysis & Surveillance Cell) and is a middle-class family man. The Family Man became one of the most-watched web series on the Amazon Prime Video.
It received many awards & nominations in that Manoj Bajpayee won 5 awards, including the Best Actor Award (critics) and many more. In the second season, Samantha Ruth Prabhu was approached & she was onboard with the cast. Season 1 of the series went on air on September 20, 2019, whereas the second season was aired on June 4, 2021.
Earlier, Akshaye Khanna was approached for the lead role of Srikant Tiwari. Still, for some reason, makers replaced Khanna with Manoj Bajpayee & the series was the digital debut of Manoj Bajpayee. The series touched the audience’s heart with humour and the actual incidents with the actions involved.
The third season of the series will be aired soon, and the audience is waiting for the announcement eagerly.
Mirzapur
A series that shook the whole OTT with the fantastic performance of the actors and the story is Mirzapur. The series is directed by Karan Anshuman, starring Ali Fazal, Vikrant Massey, Pankaj Tripathi, Divyendu Sharma. Pankaj Tripathi is a name known for his soulful acting, which can be seen in the web series.
The series went on the trending list of the OTT & people are waiting for the second season like never. For the first season, this level of performance was not expected, but when the series went on air, it became a part of talks; it was on social media, OTT.
In the series, Pankaj Tripathi is seen in Kaleen Bhaiya, Ali Fazal as Guddu, Vikrant Massey as Bablu, and Divyendu Sharma as Munna Bhaiya. These characters put the screen on fire with their excellent acting. For this series, Excel Entertainment collaborated with Amazon Studios, and along with Mirzapur, they came up with another series named Inside Edge, which is based on sports.
The series was inspired by Nacros, which was streamed on Netflix. The series won many awards & nominations, and people are now waiting for the next season of the series with the fire performance of Pankaj Tripathi.
As We See It
As We See It is a comedy-drama released on January 21, 2022, on Amazon Prime worldwide. The series is based on an Israel formal created by Yuval Shafferman and Dana Idisis.
Rick Glassman, Sue Ann Pien, and Albert Rutecki will be seen in the lead role of the web series. They identify living on the autism spectrum while they find the way to make friends, fall in love, hold their jobs, find their paths, and so on.
It is one of the awaited series as its trailer has got good recognition & the audience is ready to watch something new on their screens with a different storyline with a twist.
Aashram Season 3
Aashram is a crime drama that has gained popularity in time. Prakash Jha directs the series & it was streamed on MX Player. Bobby Deol was seen in the lead role of the series. Meanwhile, Darshan Kumar, Aditi Pohankar, Chandan Roy, Tridha Choudhary are seen in the supporting cast.
Two Seasons of the series are already on the OTT, and they have got good audience support, so now the makers are coming up with the third season of the series and it is expected to be released by August 2022.
The series portrayed blind faith and politics, and it will be about the revelation of dark secrets taking place in the mystery.
Naxal Bari Season 2
Naxal Bari is a crime thriller series based on the Naxal movements in the country. The series is directed by Partho Mitra and is produced by Kartik D. Nishandar & Arjun Singh Baran.
The star cast includes Aamir Ali, Tina Dutt, and Rajeev Khandelwal, and the series went on air on November 28, 2020, on the Zee 5 platform. It is about a mission to find out the reason & truth behind the Naxal uprising in the village.
The new season is expected to be out in January 2022, as it is one of the local problems of the country in the rural areas or tribal areas. The first season ended with suspense which will be continued in the upcoming season.
Scam 2003
Remember the series Scam 1992, which made a blast in the OTT with colossal recognition, so after the success of that web series, Hansal Mehta is coming up with scam based web series named ‘Scam 2003’. The fraud is based on Abdul Karim Telgi, and the series will portray how he earned money by printing stamp papers in India.
Scam 1992 was one of the most-watched web series, and Scam 2003 is the following part you can say. The series is expected to be aired by March 2022, which will showcase all the things related to the scam done by Abdul Karim Telgi and not only this audience is curious about the series as they are sensing suspense in it.
Abdul Karim Telgi was a giant mastermind who created his empire of fake stamp papers, he was from Karnataka, and it is believed that he earned around Rs 20,000 crores from the fake stamp paper scam and when it was exposed, it had shaken the whole country. Abdul Karim Telgi was sentenced to 30 years of imprisonment with a fine of 202 crores, but he died in 2017. It is one of the most curious stories, and people expect high from the makers.
Asur Season 2
In 2020, Asur season 1 went on air, and the audience and critics praised it. It is a mythological thriller web series with Arshad Warsi & Barun Sobti in the lead role.
The web series combines Hindu mythology & forensic science. The audience loved the concept of the series as it was something different from the other series, and it was released at the proper time when people were looking for new series at the time of the pandemic. As of now, no official dates have been released, but it is expected to be released in the year 2022.
