Recently, the OnePlus Company has announced the launch of the new version of the OnePlus Nord 2. The edition is referred to as the OnePlus Nord 2 Pac-Man Edition. Although the company has revealed a few of the features of the phone and its expected price, they have not revealed what the phone will exactly look like. Since the phone is a special version of the OnePlus Nord 2 series, we can expect that there would not be anything more different than the former version.
However, the company has made some changes. According to various sources, it has been revealed that the OnePlus Nord 2 Pac Man edition will have silver lining around the phone. The device may also demonstrate PacMan along with fingerprint animation in the fingerprint sensor.
The company has already revealed that the phone will come in one version with a RAM of 12 GB and ROM of 256 GB. The phone will be priced at 37,999 INR. In addition, the company has collaborated with Bandai Namco for the launch of the smartphone. What’s new in the smartphone is that the smartphone will have a glow-in-dark panel background. The overall specifications of the phone seem interesting. But, is it better than its predecessor? Does paying an extra 10000 INR to make the OnePlus Nord 2 PacMan edition worth it?
OnePlus Nord 2 Specifications:
Owning a OnePlus device is a dream. But, not everyone can afford such premium devices. Keeping this in mind, OnePlus has launched the mid-range series. The series includes the Nord edition consisting of Oneplus Nord that was launched in the year 2020. This year too Oneplus has come up with two versions of the midrange smartphones named OnePlus Nord CE and OnePlus Nord 2.
Oneplus Nord 2 has come with the brand line “Everything you could have asked for”. Oneplus stands strongly for the fact that the device will provide the users with a great user-friendly experience.
Oneplus Nord 2 was launched in India on 21 July 2021. The smartphone is android based and comes with a screen size of 6.43 inches with around 1080×2400 pixels. It comprises the processor Mediatek Dimensity 1200 which is a powerful processor.
As for the battery, it has a 4500mAh battery and comes with warp charging. So, the battery would be fully charged in one hour. It comes with higher resolution cameras with triple rear cameras of 50MP+8MP+2MP. Oneplus Nord 2 even have improved the front camera in this edition. The front camera has 32 MP. But, the OnePlus can work more on the front cameras. In a price range of 27,999 INR, the smartphone offers 5G connectivity and even a powerful SoC.
Also, not to miss out on the display, the display is purely AMOLED with a 90 Hz refresh rate. Moreover, the covering of gorilla glass in the front and the back gives the user a premium in-hand feel. The devices run in the version of Android 11. Another pro that adds up to the list is that OnePlus has managed to keep a considerable weight of 189Kg. The device comes with a storage version of two types: 128 GB and 256 GB. But, the main limitation is that the storage is not expandable.
It seems to be a good budget-friendly phone if someone desires to own a Oneplus device. If you are someone who likes to click pictures and is interested in photography, OnePlus Nord 2 is the go-to choice. The device is able to capture pretty good close-ups as well as portrait photos. In addition, the pictures taken in night mode seem to be pretty great too.
OnePlus Nord Worth the Hype?
OnePlus Nord 2 pretty much provides everything that the users have asked for. But, it has also raised concern for us. Many users have reported cases of the battery blast. Recent cases have stated that Oneplus Nord 2 device has blasted in a user’s pocket. The user has also shared images showing that the device was completely destroyed due to a battery explosion. He has even shared an image of the injury that the explosion has caused.
According to various sources, it has been declared that OnePlus has ensured the medical as well as the phone expenses. Also, it has been reported that OnePlus’ assistant has contacted the victim for reimbursement. However, the company has not yet revealed what situations have led the battery to explode.
This is not the first time that the news of the battery explosion of the OnePlus device has come in the news. There has been a total of three incidents. While Oneplus has straightforwardly denied taking responsibility for the first and second incidents. The company has moreover filed a case against the lawyer Gaurav Gulati who has tweeted about the battery explosion of the device.
If I try to draw the final verdict, I will suggest going for some better phones. People have expressed their opinions saying that having a Oneplus Nord 2 feels like a ticking bomb in their pocket. Given that a person’s safety is a major concern, OnePlus should take responsibility for all of its users.
OnePlus Nord 2 Pac man Edition: Is it worth it?
OnePlus have already stated that the new edition will have a similar version as the OnePlus Nord 2 model that was launched on July 21, 2021. There are some exceptions to the new edition including the fact that the device will have a glow-up rear panel, many exclusive software features such as gamified UI, custom OxygenOS icons, and many more. Oneplus have already affirmed that they would share more information regarding the launch of their model in the clubhouse chat. Details about the availability will be revealed soon. The OnePlus PacMan edition will be available at the price of 37,999 INR. Also, the phone edition will come with the Pac-Man 256.
Given that, the OnePlus PacMan edition will have the same configuration as the OnePlus Nord 2, 37,999 INR seems to be a little over the price.
