Will Qualcomm launch its new top of the line processor snapdragon 898 at the tech summit?

Qualcomm may launch its next-generation flagship processor on November 30. As this is year is going to end, we can assume that the leading chip manufacturer Qualcomm may launch its snapdragon 898.

As in the official website, Qualcomm has updated a photo of a boat in the sea, making an infinity and “more to come, soon” wording.

The announcement is of their tech summit, held on November 30 and 2nd of December 2021. It is an explicit assumption that maybe they can launch their latest gen flagship processor in this event.

As the year is ending, all the smartphone manufacturers are rushing to be the first ones to launch their flagship device with the flagship processor of Qualcomm. And rumours suggest that Xiaomi will be the first one in the race.  Snapdragon 898 flagship chipset set to launch during Qualcomm Tech Summit 2021, dates revealed |

How good is Qualcomm Snapdragon 898?

The Qualcomm Snapdragon 898 is the successor of the Snapdragon 888, which is already a powerful processor.

So the 898 will be even more powerful than 888, which has the cortex x1 cores, and in 898, the successor of the x1, which is the cortex x2, will be the powerful core. The cortex x2 will clock at 3.1 GHz with three cortex A710 for central bodies clocked at 2.6 GHz.

And at last, there will be four low power cores for day to day tasks and saving the battery, which should be cortex A 510 clocked at 1.8 GHz.

We can expect 20 to 30% improvement for the GPU part than the previous generation, thanks to Adreno 730.

And for the connectivity part, the new generation x65 modem, which could give you as much as 10Gbps of download speeds, will be there for the best quality networks and 5g performance.

But all this is from a theoretical basis. When a full-fledged smartphone is launched, we can see what the actual performance is.

The record of snapdragon 888 was not good because of the heating issues and thermal throttling. Several smartphones have faced performance issues due to the overheating problem of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888.

Some manufacturers have to strip down the performance to handle the heating issues.Top platform Qualcomm Snapdragon 898 will be presented on November 30 - Gadget Tendency

It is not that every phone has to face the issue. Some have to manage the temperature by adding 20 to 30% extensive liquid cooling systems in their smartphones to handle the heat from the processor.

So, in theory, this is an absolute beast in performance and every aspect, but the thing to see is how it handles the heat.

This time Qualcomm has to work on their chipset because they no longer have a monopoly in this market. Big companies like MediaTek, Google, and Samsung have taken this challenge seriously and launched excellent and affordable chips.

Previously the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 was not used that much because of that overheat and stable performance.

Most smartphone manufacturers were using the snapdragon 870, which is pretty much an overclocked version of the 865 plus.

It was cheaper than 888 and had a brilliant performance with stability. That is why manufacturers were using 870, and we must have seen some great phones earlier this year with the snapdragon 870.

This year there were rumours that Samsung will add AMD’s GPU in their Exynos 2200 if they name it so, and there are chances it can beat the snapdragon 898. Qualcomm Snapdragon 898 is likely coming soon, expect it in 2022's top Android phones | TechRadar

And if it happens so, then there will be problems arising to Qualcomm.

Lets us see what Qualcomm has to offer this year for us, and maybe they can also launch the successor of the 870 released last year.

Companies like Samsung, Oppo, Vivo, Xiaomi, OnePlus, etc., are working on their next year’s flagship devices, and after the launch of snapdragon 898, they may drop their phones one by one.

But as of now, I think Xiaomi may launch first their mi 12 series.
