The Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) project is set to revolutionise transportation in the region by connecting the three cities of Delhi, Ghaziabad, and Meerut through state-of-the-art RapidX trains. The project, overseen by the NCR Transport Corporation (NCRTC), will encompass a total of 25 stations, with Delhi, Ghaziabad, and Meerut each having their own designated stations.

Ghaziabad has taken the lead in completing the civil construction work for all its stations falling under the 82-kilometre-long RRTS project. The remaining three stations in Ghaziabad are expected to be completed within the next 3–4 months. Notably, five stations in Ghaziabad, including Sahibabad, Ghaziabad, Guldhar, Duhai, and Duhai Depot, have already been completed and form part of the 17-kilometre priority section, which will soon commence passenger operations.

Puneet Vats, the chief public relations officer of the NCRTC, informed that work on the remaining three stations in Ghaziabad, namely Muradnagar, Modinagar (North), and Modinagar (South), is well underway, and their civil construction is expected to conclude within the next 3–4 months. Progress on stations in Delhi, including the one at Anand Vihar, is also commendable.

One exciting feature of the RRTS project is the proposed station for passengers at the stabling yard in Jangpura, Delhi, which will benefit commuters using the Ring Road.

The RRTS project will utilise advanced RapidX trains to facilitate seamless travel between Delhi, Ghaziabad, and Meerut. Additionally, Meerut will operate a local metro transit module as part of this extensive project.
