1. Howrah Bridge

Rabindranath Tagore was born in this house and is the first Nobel laureate to be born outside of Europe. Moreover, he spent most of his teenage years and also died here on  August 7, 1941. The house has been restored to recreate the feeling of the Tagore family when they lived there. 

Rabindra Bharati University also organizes social events on the birthday of the writer on Panchise Baisakh, when thousands of people come to Jorasanko Thakur Bari. Various events such as his Baishe Shravan commemoration are also organized in addition to a celebration of expressions called Aban Mela.

The Birla Planetarium in Kolkata was considered the largest planetarium on the Asian continent when it opened and was completed by then-Indian Prime Minister Sri Jawaharlal Nehru.
