Most youngsters have spent their childhood or teens watching Harry Potter, yes, the boy who lived. It is one of the iconic movies which created a different fanbase all around the world and still it has its influence as it has clubs of Potterheads, etc.

However, the magic world in movies is not just limited to Harry Potter, and if you love to be on the magical side and enjoy other movies based on adventures, magic, wiz and mostly the imaginary world which drive you away in the world that is not true but it sticks into your mind.

The Hunger Games

The movie is a science fiction dystopian adventure film released in 2012. The Hunger Games is adapted from a novel named ‘The Hunger Games’ by Suzzanne Collins (an American author) and Jennifer Lawrence, Woody Harrelson, Josh Hutcherson on board in the star cast.

The Hunger Games created the record for the biggest opening weekend being a non-sequel movie. The first series did so well & second part of the movie The Hunger Games: Catching Fire was released in the year 2013, and the third part was released into two divisions that are The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 in 2014 and The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2 in the year 2015.

The movie is about a teenage girl, who volunteers for her district during a time of dystopian in which the children fight with each other till death for a television pageant called The Hunger Games.

The performance of Jennifer Lawrence and the movie’s theme was very well appreciated. Before this sequel of the movie, a prequel was already released named The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, which is adapted from the same novel. The Hunger Games has maintained the 21st spot in the list of highest-grossing film franchises of all time.

Lord of the Rings

The movie ‘Lord of the Rings‘ is a movie series based on fantasy & adventure adapted from a novel written by J R R Tolkien. The movie is subtitled ‘The Fellowship of the Rings’ released in 2001, ‘The Two Towers’ in 2002, and ‘The Return of the King’ in 2003.

The Lords of the Rings has Elijah Wood, Liv Tyler, Lan McKellen, Sean Astin, Cate Blanchett, Christopher Lee on board in the star cast. The film is considered one of the greatest & most influential film series ever made and is one of the highest-grossing movies. The movie portrayed saving the ring from going into the hands of Dard Lord.

The movie gathered positive responses from the critics for their special effects, acting, emotions, and music. Meanwhile, the movie is also selected by the Library of Congress for preservation in the United States National Film Registry.

The Golden Compass

The movie ‘The Golden Compass was released in the year 2007, directed & written by Chris Weitz. The Golden Compass is a composition of adventure & fantasy which is adapted from the book named Northern Lights in the year 1995. The story may be old but is a good one, and if you searching for movies like Harry Potter, you can watch this anytime.

The star cast of this movie includes Daniel Craig, Dakota Blue Richards, Nicole Kidman, Ian McKellen, and Eva Green. The film is about an orphan girl who lives in a parallel world, and the children living in that universe are being kidnapped by the gobblers later the orphan girl goes on the journey to the far north in search of the missing children.

The movie was criticized before its release but it won Oscar & BAFTA for its visual effects, and it received mixed reactions.

The Shape of Water

The movie was released in the year 2017 and is a romantic fantasy film which is directed by Guillermo del Toro, the star cast includes Sally Hawkins, Richard Jenkins, Michael Shannon, Doug Jones, and Octavia Spencer.

The Shape of Water is more like a sweet fairy tale for the adults which portrays a mute woman named Elisa (role played by Sally Hawkins) who works at the government lab covered with high security and is very much interested in the sea creatures and later she falls in love with the captured Amphibian man & later falls in love with him.

The Shape of Water is an Oscar-winning film that it was premiered at the Venice International Film Festival as part of the competition and was also awarded the Golden Lion, it was also screened at the Toronto International Film Festival in the year 2017. It has won many awards & recognition for its screenplay, direction, performance, production, visuals, and music. Don’t miss out on this movie. Even if you are not a big fan of fantasy films, you will enjoy this one.

Lemony Snicket’s

Jim Carrey, Emily Browning, Liam Aiken, Billy Connolly, Timothy Spall. Luis Guzman can be seen in the star cast of the movie. The movie follows the story of three orphans who lost their parent in the terrible Fire and later comes across Olaf who’s set their fortune, and these kids are brave and have a resource like Harry Potter to fight the evil.

The movie has won many awards & nominations including Academy Award, and was nominated for Best costume, best art direction at the Academy Awards.

Cloud Atlas

The movie ‘Cloud Atlas’ is a science fiction film directed and written by Tom Tykwer & the Wachowskis. The film is adapted from a novel written by David Mitchell in 2004.
The movie portrays about 6 different eras of time, and the characters will be seen in multiple roles in multiple plotting. The star casts include Halle Berry, Tom Hanks, Hugo Weaving, Jim Broadbent, Jim Sturgess, Doona Bae, Ben Whishaw, and many more.

The Cloud Atlas is one of the most expensive independent movies ever produced and the movie was premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2012. Apart from that, the film got many nominations and won the best makeup and editing award.

Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief

The movie is widely recognized as ‘Percy Jackson and the Lighting Thief’. The movie is a composition of action & fantasy which complements each other very well. Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief was released in the year 2010 and is directed by Chris Columbus.

The first part of the movie is adapted from The Lighting Thief (a part of the Percy Jackson series), launched in 2005 written by Rick Riordan. Logan Lerman will be seen in the lead role of Percy Jackson. Still, apart from that, you will see Alexandra Daddario, Brandon T. Jackson, Kevin McKidd, Uma Thurman, Rosario Dawson, Steve Coogan, Dylan Neal, and a few more in the movie.

The story is about a boy, who discovers he is the son of God Poseidon, and later during a school trip, he finds himself in a camp & learns that his best friend is designated as protector and is a Satyr. The movie is very interesting, it will keep you stuck to the surrounding of fantasy and the storyline.

The movie received mixed reviews as it was criticized for poor source material, but it was appreciated for the performance of Jackson and Lerman. A video game based on the movie was also released in the year 2010 and later, a sequel of the movie was released in 2013.

Doctor Strange

This movie has made many kids and youngsters crazy with the story and superhero touch. Doctor Strange is a character that came out from the marvel comics and was released in 2016. The film was directed by Scott Derrickson and was produced by Marvel Studios.

You will see Benedict Cumberbatch playing Stephen Strange’s role. The star cast includes Benedict Wong, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Rachael McAdams, Benjamin Bratt, Tilda Swinton, Mads Mikkelsen, and Scott Adkins.

Doctor Strange is that character of the movie who centres on the magic & spells after he lost the ability to operate being a surgeon. He travels across the globe to heal his hand but later discovers himself facing threats from different dimensions.

The movie has its world premiere in Hong Kong and it was very much appreciated. Still, the characters left a mark on the audience, the performance visual effects were appreciated and it even received the Academy Award nomination for Best Visual Effect.

If you haven’t watched this movie, you must watch it, one of its kind, and you will love the movie as marvel has different touches in every movie which makes the audience go crazy for their movie release.

The star cast of the movie includes Jack Black, Cate Blanchett, Owen Vaccaro, Kyle MacLachlan, Renee Elise Goldsberry, and Sunny Suljic. The movie is about a kid who is sent to live with his uncle in an old house, but later he finds out that his uncle & the neighbor are magic practitioners.

The critics appreciated the movie, and the performance & selection of the cast were also praised. Still, the movie was said that it couldn’t live up to the expectation of the potential, and it was the first movie by Roth which does not receive an R rating.

Fear Street Trilogy

The star cast of the movie includes Kiana Madeira, Olivia Scott Welch, Julia Rehwald, Benjamin Flores Jr., Fred Hechinger, Ashley Zukerman, Ted Sutherland, Jordana Spiro, Elizabeth Scopel, Jordyn DiNatale, and a few more. The movie also tells about teenagers how are they dealing with the love life, so it is an interesting movie.

The movie series was shot back to back & was released every week it received a positive response from the audience.
